Tom DeMont is the owner of this wonderful Island business. Tom is also the resident artist who works in scrimshaw carvings and paintings. He is proud that many of his customers have become friends over the years. In addition to Tom's own custom scrimshaw, one will find an extensive selection of paintings, such as the recent painting shown of the schooners Alabama and Shenandoah, completed by Jim Mitchell. Along with this is an extensive selection of hand-made knives designed and scrimmed by Sam McDowell; Nantucket lightship baskets by Martin Brown, Don Eaton, Joyce Anderson and Mary Howard; whales carved by Tom and Francis Evans, and other wonderful pieces by local craftsmen and artists. The shop also features 14K gold Nantucket baskets, pendants and earrings, nautical woodcarvings, ivory jewelry and fine knives. These are gifts which become family treasures.
